April 11 - 15, 2011

***CLASSROOM NEEDS: We need more Clorox/Lysol wipes, baby wipes, paper towels, and pencils. This should carry us through to the end of the year!  THANK YOU to the three parents who already sent Lysol wipes and pencils :^) 


**LAST DAY FOR CHECKS AT CES IS APRIL 21st!!  Cash only after that date, please.

**If you would be willing to help with ink cartridges for the classroom printer, the number for black and tricolor is HP 901. Thank you for always helping our classroom!

FIELD TRIPS:
*April 12th---- PTA Meeting with Yellow Pods performing. Pizza at 5:30.


*April 15th---Fieldtrip to SEHS for "Beauty and the Beast" Cost is $1.00.

*April 20th---Fieldtrip to Ace Bowling (GOTCHA reward party!)  9:00 - 2:00.
*Parents will drive and meet us there.  If your child rides the bus to Ace Bowling, he or she will ride back with us.  If you want your child to ride in your car to meet us, then your child must be signed out in the office and becomes "yours' for the rest of the day!  :^) 

*April 29th -- Fieldtrip to Airport Road Intermediate to visit 3rd grade and tour the school. Free!

**READING/SPELLING --- Unit 5 Test --- Monday through Wednesday.

Story for this week, "Josh Gibson," begins on Thursday, which is DAY ONE.  Read story every night.

Practice Spelling words.... Write words 4 times every night beginning on Thursday!

DAY ONE - THURSDAY ---  Read story at home tonight, and remember to practice Spelling words.

DAY TWO - FRIDAY---  Continue to read story and practice Spelling words this weekend.

Next week:
DAY THREE - MONDAY ---  Read and prepare for Selection Test tomorrow :^)

DAY FOUR - TUESDAY --- Reading Selection Online test.

DAY FIVE - WEDNESDAY --- Spelling and Language Tests

All students are to read AR books at home with an adult, every night!

**LANGUAGE/HANDWRITING

We will review all pronouns and contractions, then begin with capitalization on Thursday.

**MATH
Students continue learning about collecting, organizing, and displaying data using tables and graphs.

**Fact drill this nine weeks is 100 subtraction facts, 5 minutes. Again, the best out of nine tests will be counted. PLEASE make copies of the one I sent home for practice.  It works!

**SOCIAL SCIENCE:

Students are learning about the importance of  goods and services, and why everyone needs an education and good job.
