#1: Please continue to practice reading passage sent home Monday in the Apple Binder. This passage will be practiced at home and signed (initials) at the bottom every night. Set a timer for one minute, and let your child read to you. Also let him/her read the entire passage for you during the week. I will be checking every Friday! :)
#2: You will be given a one page list of "High Frequency Words" or "Fry" words to practice for the 2nd nine weeks. Your child knows to keep this in his/her Apple Binder. We are looking for words to be read correctly and fluently~~these are NOT timed.
Remember to put your child’s name, phone number, “E. Boyer” and lunch number on checks.
Put ALL MONEY in a zip bag or envelope telling what it is for. Children do not remember.
**STUDENT OF THE WEEK: Caleb
**READING/SPELLING: This week's words include plurals: Adding -s and -es. Practice your words three times every night. **There are two parts to doing homework: Doing the work at home, and returning it in the homework pocket of your apple binder. Spelling test will be on FRIDAY.
**The two dictation sentences your child needs to practice every night are:
1. Write a sentence containing a SINGULAR NOUN.
2. Write an IMPERATIVE sentence.
**LANGUAGE/HANDWRITING: This week we are learning about singular and plural nouns. Students will complete a "Plural Noun Booklet" and keep it at school. When we are finished, your child will bring this booklet home for you to see. Our favorite rule: If a noun ends in s, sh, ch, or x, you must add -es to make the singular noun plural. We also like this one, too: If a noun ends with an "f," you must change the f to v and add -es.

We are continuing to review finding the sum of three and four addends. Students will be using a variety of methods, including the use of parentheses, to add these numbers. This week we will begin working on subtraction facts and will find "fact families." We are also going to begin adding two 2-digit numbers without regrouping. Please continue studying addition facts.
