Story for this week is, "Frogs."

Spelling:  Words that have "ou" as in "found" and "ow" as in "brown."  Spelling Test will be on Friday.

**IMPORTANT SPELLING INFORMATION:  Your child had received a green paper with ALL spelling words and  directions for dictation practice for this quarter.  This sheet replaces the old Spelling list we kept in the folder pocket.  Please do NOT take this out of the Apple Binder :)

READ your AR book at home with an adult every night! Some students are not taking their AR books home at night even when reminded....

**LANGUAGE/HANDWRITING   Students are learning how to write expanded sentences. This means we will include adjectives to make sentences more interesting.  Test will be on Friday.

**MATH   We are learning about fractions, which name parts of a whole.  Next, we will learn about counting money amounts up to $5.00 and telling time.  You certainly may begin practicing by counting money at home.  Take a handful of coins, put them in order from greatest to least, then "add on" to find the total amount.  Also practice telling time using an analog clock (with hands).  We will tell time to the nearest half hour and quarter hour first.

**SOCIAL SCIENCE
We are studying maps and globes, and will focus on cardinal directions, map keys and symbols.  This week we will introduce and learn to identify continents.
