March 19 - 23, 2012

NEWS FOR PARENTS:

I'm not sure what happened to my blog posting for March 12 - 16....!!!  Anything can happen with technology.  Here is your information for this week, March 19 - 23.

**Many parents are asking me if students have homework at night.  Since August we have had Spelling homework every night before the test on Friday, Reading homework every night before the test on Thursday, and Math homework twice each week.  Children are supposed to be reading AR books with an adult, too.  We have also been working on addition and subtraction facts as well.  Yes, we do have homework every night!

Thank you, parents who sent tissues, wipes, and paper towels!
Please do continue to send these in...
And a BIG "thank you" to Roberto's mother for sending in one color
cartridge! :^)
We are still in need of one black cartridge, HP Officejet 901.  Walmart and Office Depot carry these in two packs or single.

**Spring pictures are March 21st

**SPRING BREAK is March 26 - 30th!!!

Coming in April...............

**April 14th is Spring Fling/Mustang Stampede 5k & Fun Run.

Reading:
Story for this week is "Bad Dog, Dodger!"  We will review plot and theme, and will predict what might happen next as we read the story. Test will be on Thursday.

SPELLING:
Write words three times each, every night.  Practice words from previous week, as these will be used in dictation sentences. Test will be on Friday.  *Homework...EVERY night!

GRAMMAR:  We are learning about pronouns, I and me, in the subject and predicate.

MATH:   We had a GREAT TIME doing our "Charming Graph!"  Each student had a plate full of Lucky Charms cereal, and we graphed the marshmallow "surprises."  Then we ATE the evidence!

This week, we will continue learning about measurement and why it's important to have set standards.  I posted pictures of our class on Facebook measuring length and width of desk, math book, arms and feet :^)  PLEASE do let me know if you would rather not have your child's picture online!

SOCIAL SCIENCE:    This week, students will have to opportunity to learn about different types of clouds.
