May 2 - 5, 2011

PLEASE READ ANNOUNCEMENTS BELOW CAREFULLY... MAY IS A BUSY MONTH!

THANK YOU to all parents who sent paper towels, Germ-X, wipes, tissues... I sent a little request letter home yesterday, not knowing that today was a special "SUPPLY" day during Teacher Appreciation Week!  Well!  I had no idea.......  You have been so generous, and I thank you  :^)

We received TWO black ink cartridges today... Let me add that to my "thank you " list!

DEADLINE FOR RETURNING PICTURES OR MONEY IS MAY 12TH!

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK: May 2nd - 5th. See letter sent home by our PTA.

HONORS DAY: Monday a.m., May 23rd. Time to be announced. You will receive a letter regarding our brunch for that morning. **Brunch will be for parents and students :^)

**READING/SPELLING
Story for this week is "A Birthday Basket for Tia." Read story every night.
Practice Spelling words.... Write words 4 times every night!

DAY ONE - Monday --- Read story at home tonight, and remember to practice Spelling words.
DAY TWO - Tuesday--- Continue to read story and practice Spelling words.
DAY THREE - Wednesday --- Read and prepare for Selection Test tomorrow :^)
DAY FOUR - Thursday --- Reading Selection Online test.
DAY FIVE - Friday --- Spelling and Language Tests

All students are to read AR books at home with an adult, every night!
**LAST DAY FOR AR POINTS IS THIS FRIDAY, MAY 5TH
**ALL AR BOOKS WILL BE TURNED IN ON MAY 11TH

**LANGUAGE/HANDWRITING
We are learning how to use commas correctly in dates, addresses, and letters.

**MATH
Students are learning about chance and probability.

**Fact drill this nine weeks is 100 subtraction facts, 5 minutes. Again, the best out of nine tests will be counted. PLEASE make copies of the one I sent home for practice. It works!

**SOCIAL SCIENCE:
Students are learning about different landmarks found in our country.  These include state and national landmarks:  The capitol building in Montgomery, The Civil Rights Museum, Huntsville Space and Rocket Center, Helen Keller's home, Ivy Green; the Washington Monument, our nation's Capitol building, the Statue of Liberty, and the Golden Gate Bridge.
