February 7 - 11, 2011

**Valentine's Day information is in the apple binder today!

**February 10th - Thursday night - PTA, 6 p.m.  BLUE PODS PERFORMING!
Pizza served at 5:30 for $1.50/slice or $8 for whole pizza 


**February 24 - Spirit Night at Chuck E. Cheese, Eastern Blvd., Montgomery    3 p.m. - 9 p.m.  Be sure to purchase everything at the cash registers (including tokens).  CES PTA receives 15% of all purchases through the registers.  Tokens purchased through machines will not be included in the 15%.



 **April 9, 2011 - SPRING FLING!  10 a.m. - 2 p.m.  Vendor Booths available for $25  -  contact Patti Foshee if interested.  We need LOTS of volunteers!

**READING/SPELLING --- Story for this week is "I Like Where I Am."

DAY ONE - Monday --- Read story at home tonight, and remember to practice Spelling words.

DAY TWO - Tuesday--- Continue reading and practicing Spelling words.

DAY THREE - Wednesday --- Prepare for tests tomorrow!

DAY FOUR - Thursday --- Reading Selection Online test.

DAY FIVE - Friday --- Spelling and Language Tests.


All students are to read AR books at home with an adult, every night!

**LANGUAGE/HANDWRITING

We will begin learning about adverbs that tell when and where.

**MATH

Students will continue to practice counting money this week.  We will review counting money and telling time, and do the Basic Knowledge #4 Test on Friday.

**Fact drill this nine weeks is 50 subtraction facts, 3 minutes. Again, the best out of nine tests will be counted. Practice continues on 100 addition facts in 5 minutes.

**SOCIAL SCIENCE:

Animal Projects were AWESOME!  You have made your teacher very, very proud.  I have put these in the hallway for parents to enjoy  : )

We will learn about contributions made by African Americans in history.  Students will focus on
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.; Harriet Tubman, escaped slave; Bill Cosby, entertainer and educator; and Wilma Rudolph, athlete.
