*Remember special updates regarding changes in grading for second semester Spelling tests. All words still count 5 points each. Dictation sentences are worth 5 points, too. One mistake on a dictation sentence is -5 points. Remember to practice words missed on each test, because those words will often be seen in the next week's dictation sentences!

"Animal Research Project" letters come home today.  Due Date:  Presentations will be Friday, Feb. 4th!  Second graders need to know how to do an "at-home" project in preparation for third grade.  Do not hesitate to email me with any questions.....  My letter to you explains all the details  :^)

Student of the Week:  Jeni Nelson

Begin studying money!  We will count individual coins, up to $5.00.  Practice counting money at home.  Parents, take a handful of coins and put them on the table.  Students are learning to put coins in order, from greatest to least, and "adding on" as they count.

**Fact drill this nine weeks is 50 subtraction facts, 3 minutes. Again, the best out of nine tests will be counted. Practice continues on 100 addition facts in 5 minutes.

**SOCIAL SCIENCE:
We measured and gave "Mr. Grass Head" a haircut last Friday!  The children really enjoyed this project! Students are learning about mammals and birds this week.  ***Animal Research Project letters come home on Monday. DUE DATE:  Friday, February 4th.  Read the letter with your child.  Students will use the second page to write ten facts about the animal they choose, and will attach a picture of the animal.  Email me if you have any questions at all!  elaine.boyer@elmore.k12.al.us
