**See this site for "Snowflake Bentley."  Real pictures of actual snow crystals taken by Wilson Bentley.  Absolutely beautiful!  I hope your family will enjoy this website.

PTA Meeting is tonight, Tuesday, January 18th.
GOTCHA party is this Friday. The "Music Man" will be coming to entertain us!

*Remember special updates regarding changes grading of Spelling tests:
Spelling tests will change as we begin 2nd semester, Unit 4. All words still count 5 points each. Dictation sentences are worth 5 points, too. One mistake on a dictation sentence is -5 points. Remember to practice words missed on each test, because those words will often be seen in the next week's dictation sentences!

Student of the Week: Leslie Jimenez-Hernandez

**READING/SPELLING ----
DAY ONE - Today!  Tuesday, January 18th - Read story at home tonight, and remember to practice Spelling words.

DAY TWO - Wednesday - Continue reading and practicing Spelling words.

DAY THREE - Thursday - Prepare for tests tomorrow!

DAYS FOUR AND FIVE - Friday: Reading Selection, Spelling, and Language Tests today.

All students are to read AR books at home with an adult, every night!

**LANGUAGE/HANDWRITING

We will begin learning about adjectives - words that describe nouns.

**MATH

We are continuing to tell time to the nearest hour, half hour, five minutes and minute.  **Students are to practice telling time at home every night!  Look for last week's website on the blog which gives an example of an analog clock.

**Fact drill that counts for a grade this nine weeks is 50 subtraction facts, 3 minutes. Again, the best out of nine tests will be counted. Practice continues on 100 addition facts.

We will begin counting money next Monday.  Please start NOW using dimes, nickels and pennies to put in order on the table and "add on."  We will include quarters the next week.  Practice every night!

**SOCIAL SCIENCE:
Students will continue to monitor growth of "Mr. Grasshead."  We are beginning our study of living and non-living things this week, too.
