*STUDENT OF THE WEEK: Kayla

*READING/SPELLING
Students will read the story, "Just Like Josh Gibson."  We will learn how to compare and contrast.

**IMPORTANT SPELLING INFORMATION:  Remember to write spelling words every night.  Refer to the section for each week that tells you how to plan sentences 4 and 5 for the dictation portion.  This sheet GIVES you the directions for practicing those two sentences all week long!

READ your AR book at home with an adult every night! Some students are not taking their AR books home at night even when reminded....

**LANGUAGE/HANDWRITING   Students will begin learning about adverbs this week.

**MATH:   Students are adding and subtracting two 3-digit numbers, with regrouping in the tens and ones places.  We will begin studying measurement next week.
*We are practicing subtraction facts (1 minute every day, Monday through Friday).  Your child will grade his or her own paper.  That timed drill sheet will be brought home to you to keep on Friday.

**SOCIAL SCIENCE
Our study of living and nonliving things, with emphasis on mammals, continues this week.  You will receive a letter telling about your child's "Animal Project" which will be due the Tuesday after Spring Break (April 1st). Your child will need assistance, but I want him or her to do the work.  The letter you get will explain all details!
