Special Note! Next week is "Read Across America" week! We will celebrate Dr. Seuss books every day. You will be receiving a note soon about ways students may dress each day. *READING/SPELLING We are learning how to put parts of a story in sequence.
Story for this week is, "One Dark Night." Reading Test will be on Thursday.
Spelling: Words with prefixes un-, re-, pre-, dis-. Spelling Test will be on Friday.
**Dictation sentences you will practice must include a contraction and irregular plural noun, and a declarative sentence with two singular nouns. Practice EVERY NIGHT!
**IMPORTANT SPELLING INFORMATION: Your child had received a green paper with ALL spelling words and directions for dictation practice for this quarter. This sheet replaces the old Spelling list we kept in the folder pocket. Please do NOT take this out of the Apple Binder :)
READ your AR book at home with an adult every night! Some students are not taking their AR books home at night even when reminded....
**LANGUAGE/HANDWRITING Students will write "STRONG" sentences and learn about using commas in a series this week. Test will be on Thursday.
**MATH We are learning about counting money amounts up to $5.00 and telling time. You certainly may begin practicing by counting money at home. We finding the total amount of quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies this week. Also practice telling time using an analog clock (with hands). We will tell time to the nearest half hour, quarter hour, and five minutes at the end of this week.

We are continuing to study different types of weather. Students will make a Weather Booklet describing and illustrating storms we've learned about.
