**CLASSROOM NEEDS: Please keep our class in mind if you are at Walmart or Office Depot. During this year we will need HP 901 printer cartridges in Black and Color for the classroom printer. It is wonderful to have a printer/copier in our room for small numbers of copies to be made!

*Please join our PTA!!! We need YOU. Membership is $10.00. Hopefully we can all join on payday… your teacher is! Membership Drive is through the month of September.
**Our PTA very generously deposited $100 in each teacher's school account from money raised at last year's Spring Fling! They also purchased a sound system which has been installed in the cafeteria. This will greatly improve our school programs and meetings. We are so thankful for an active PTA at Coosada Elementary.

**READING/SPELLING
Our story this week is “Exploring Space."
Day One is Monday: Family Times and Spelling list is in Apple Binder. Read story at home and write Spelling words three times each. (Use notebook paper in the back of Apple Binder.)
Day Two is Tuesday: Read story at home and write Spelling words three times each.
Day Three is Wednesday: Read story at home.
Day Four is Thursday: Reading test today (Part online, part written). Practice for Spelling Test tomorrow!
Day Five is Friday: Spelling and Language tests today.
Please write Spelling words three times each every night at home! We will check words at school daily. (The only night we do not write Spelling words is Wednesday night... That is up to parents!)
**Practice your reading passage (in last page of Apple binder). Parents, please time your child reading this passage for one minute, then sign the bottom of the page.
**There are two parts to doing homework: Doing the work at home, and returning it in the homework pocket of your Apple binder.
**LANGUAGE/HANDWRITING
We will learn to identify the subject of a sentence. Students are learning to use their best handwriting. We will write our first and last name and the date on our papers. I am so proud of your effort!
**MATH
We are learning to solve problems and choose the operation: addition or subtraction. Students will have homework this week at least three nights. You must learn addition facts! Please work hard on your facts! Use addition flash cards, games and computer activities to reinforce facts. *The best one out of nine fact drills will be counted as a math grade.
**SOCIAL SCIENCE
Students will begin our study of balancing and weighing this week.
